Yeti 575 Carbon Race Bike 2009

The 2009 Yeti 575 Race takes an already proven frame and kit and tricks it out with Fox 15mm technology. The result is a lightweight bike that features smooth, predictable handling with 140m of front and rear travel. That helps you pick the line you want to take down the mountain, while still retaining the ability to pedal all day like an XC bike. The 575's construction helps to make it an All-Mountain bike that climbs with the cross-country bikes and descends with the downhill bikes.

The 575 Carbon Race is identical to the 575 Race bike, however, it adds the full carbon rear end to save about 3/10 of a pound.

Yeti 575 Reviews

BikeRadar.com

The 2008 incarnation of Yeti's classic almost-six-inch-travel trail bike adds extra carbon wonderfulness to an old favourite.

Yeti build simply beautiful bikes and have always maintained a balance between smooth, simple looking bikes and a highly technical design. The 575 is no exception, with its trademark team turquiose mainframe and carbon/ aluminium rear end – although production versions now have a full carbon rear end…

It’s light, it has almost six inches of travel and it’s controlled, smooth and accurate. The Yeti 575 might just be the ultimate trail bike.

There are heavy 5in travel bikes on the market, and there are light 6in travel bikes. And there’s the Yeti 575. The name refers to its 5.75in of suspension travel. On the face of it, the Yeti offers the best of both worlds.

If there’s anything the MBT test crew can be guilty of by association it would have to be our undeniable attraction to long-travel trail bikes. It makes sense too, if you take a moment to think about it. With gains in technology, bikes today can weigh the same with 4, 5, even 6 inches of travel as bikes with 2 or 3 inches from yesteryear. Bring it on we like to say, so long as this additional travel doesn’t come with a weight penalty.

Enter the 575 Race Disc from Yeti; as the name suggests we’re talking about a chassis that boasts 5.75 inches of travel, an overall weight under 30 pounds, and a price tag of just about $3500.

If you are like us and prefer to see the end before the movie is over then let me just get this out of the way...the Yeti 575 Mountain bike is a great choice featuring a reasonably light frame combined with a smooth and controllable 6 inches of travel. In other words the Yeti 575 Mountain Bike is a superb choice for an all around trail bike.

Hold Yeti's 575 frame in your hands, and its weight feels more like that of a short-travel cross-country machine, not that of a bike with nearly 6 inches of travel. The 575 basically is a beefed-up longer-travel version of Yeti's flyweight XC racer, the AS-R SL. You can get the 575 as a frame (with two shock and two rear-end options) or as a complete bike starting at $2,722 and topping out at $4,798.

I have now ridden my 575 enough times to give it meaningful review. I bought the bike via Yeti and due to cash flow, chose the enduro package which is their "budget" package. I did upgrade the vanilla to a Float and upgraded to a carbon rear swingarm. The bike came with Sram X0 derailer, X9 in the front. Wheels are Mavic 317's with decent hubs. Tires are Maxis, bars are Raceface carbon. Cranks are Raceface, too, and she has Juicy disc brakes on her. Raceface seatpost with Yeti saddle and Sram shifters gives you a good idea of the build...
